Beach party!

The best way to end the summer is to have a beach party. Luckily my daughter, Pippa, was sensible enough to be born at the end of August so we had a brilliant party to celebrate. We also co-ordinated it with a Cancer Research campaign and made the front page of the local paper! Pictures to follow!

Penzance Literary Festival Aug 18-21

Yay! It’s the very first ever Penzance Lit Fest and it’s going to be great. I shall be at Trevelyan House in Chapel Street on Friday, Aug 20th, 11am-12.30, in conversation with Jane West about writing for children. The Cornishman Short Story Competition

I so enjoyed helping to judge the first ever Cornishman newspaper short story competition. Good to meet all the shortlisted candidates at the Award ceremony last night at Pensans School. Congratulations to:
Eva who won the Year 5-6 category for “The story of St Marrion”,
Amelia and Charlotte, joint winners of the Year 3-4 category, for “The magic medicine” and “Maggie’s Lane”, and
Tamar who won the Years 1-2 category for “Tamar the seagull’s boatrip”.
And well done all of you who entered the competition. I never knew there were so many super-talented writers living in Cornwall!

Trereife House Literary Day

Mazey Day, Penzance. Best day of Cornwall’s favourite mid-summer festival. Two weeks of music, dance, poetry, story-telling, singing and fun, culminating in a fabulous parade through the main streets. And the whole town turns out. Come and see it for yourself next year!

The Cakemakers!

What a wonderful few days in Torquay in the blazing sunshine!
Thank you St Cuthbert Mayne School for inviting me. Good to meet with switched-on Year 7 and the extra-special Year 10s who looked after me so well. Fantastic cake!!!! And keep writing!
Great to meet Year 5 from The Priory and Year 6 from Barton Primary on Thursday. I never realised primary students were so grown-up!
