Summertime in Torquay!

The Cakemakers!

What a wonderful few days in Torquay in the blazing sunshine!
Thank you St Cuthbert Mayne School for inviting me. Good to meet with switched-on Year 7 and the extra-special Year 10s who looked after me so well. Fantastic cake!!!! And keep writing!
Great to meet Year 5 from The Priory and Year 6 from Barton Primary on Thursday. I never realised primary students were so grown-up!
Check out your photos on the Events page.

The Lincolnshire Book Award

Thrilled to hear that “It’s a 50/50 thing” has been selected as the winner of the 12-14 category of the Lincolnshire Book Award. What an honour! Thank you to all those people who voted for it. I loved writing this book, not least because of the character of bad boy Jem, who kind of took over.
Who knows? Maybe we haven’t seen the last of him yet????

I did it!

Last night I ran 5 ks in 33 minutes, 24 seconds! Ok, it’s not exactly Paula Radcliffe, but I’m pleased. Here’s the photos to prove it.

Race For Life

Am running the Race For Life this evening, June 2nd, for Cancer Research. 5 ks without stopping-urrgh-I hate running! But it’s a cause very dear to my heart and I am running it for those lovely women who have lost their lives prematurely to breast cancer, like Sandy, Anne and Linda, all of them Mums, and all good friends of mine. I will be running with my daughter Pippa and two friends, Mo and Mo (Really!) Wish me luck and please consider donating to Cancer Research to help beat this disease.

Kernow Youth Book Award

“A Perfect Ten” has been shortlisted for the KYBA on April 28th and I’m totally gutted that I can’t be there at the Award ceremony in Falmouth. A huge honour to be shortlisted for a Cornish award. Have a great time all of you and a big thanks to you all.
